Energy consumption of pumps

Basics

Realistic estimations assume, that approx. 20%-25% of the worldwide produced electricity is used for pumps. 93 % of the total lifecycle costs of a pump are caused by the energy consumption. The energy consumption of a pump can be reduced by choosing an appropriate:

  • Mode of operation
  • Operational mode
  • Choise of material

Energy Consumption by Friction

Especially when choosing pumps with elastomers in the pump chamber (see PCP) or wide sealing areas (rotary piston pump) the efficiency factor is decreased due to frictional losses Due to the fact that the rotors of our rotary lobe pump have a non-contact flow, the highest efficiency factor is achieved.
